Christmas, chooks and chaos

Now I’m totally confused. We’re celebrating Christmas on the 22nd. I know that watermelon and strawberry daiquiris mean Christmas…but how does this work on the 22nd>>>>>>>>>perhaps because we’re going to the airport on the 23rd to start the adventure!
All dressed up and packed on a typical summer’s day….40 degrees and packing for the winter in Nepal and the stupidly cold Korea (Georgie you owe me big time)
Did the last check of pets…and we have a chook on the brink…clean clothes and freshly washed as I try to help a flyblown chook…I’m sure I had a different farewell planned. Chook fixed…and lasted a couple of weeks longer…until the heat got her anyway…chooks only have two lives.
You’d think that with 80 kilo’s of baggage allowance between the four of us that this would be fine….and you’d be wrong. 80 kilos was just enough for the things which were collected to be donated. I can’t imagine what the xray operator at the airport thought. Hmmmm…we have surgical scissors, surgical thread, nappies, crayons, knitted squares, books, scary birthing stuff…and there’s a toothbrush. Excuse me sir…that’s a really dodgy looking toothbrush. Would you step in to this room for a quick body search. It is really embarrassing travelling with such a mountain of luggage…found ourselves explaining to various check in counters that really…it’s not all for us…we’re donating it all and buying clothes there…and then the weigh in at Melbourne was miscalculated…so we were, officially at least…travelling with 96 kilos….and scrambling to add extra weight allowances to all the other legs of our trip.
