Late flight out of Bangkok. All looks well on track as we
negotiate the traffic and arrive with heaps of spare time. Japanese on the
menu…a leisurely dinner and off to departures.
The departure time arrived…but not our ‘plane. Have you
noticed just how uncomfortable airport seats are when you’re stuck for a while?
Books were read, walks around the airport were had, Air Asia helpfully kept the
“Final Call” signs flashing for at least
two hours past the supposed departure time. Then things hotted up….the airport
Macca’s delivered heaps of burgers to the gate. Those of you who know AirAsia
will realise the significance of this move. This is the airline which charges
incrementally for every possible part of travel right down to the regulated
number of breaths, gives away nothing and just happily is profitable and goes
to places we do…what an annoying combination.
We eventually made it to our Kuala Lumpur hotel at 4am.
All was forgiven when we got upgrades for the leg to
Kathmandu…oh yeah!
It doesn't matter how often I see these mountains...get excited every time.
