After some time travelling you’d think we would have
organised ourselves more efficiently. We had our tickets to Bangkok from a good
deal with Jetstar..looking to catch a Thai Air flight to Kathmandu from
there…..and then Air Asia were damn sneaky and started flying direct to
KTM…from Kuala Lumpur…and the extra leg to KL plus the KTM bit was still a
better deal…if a little bit less than a straight line. Not sure if you add the
nights in the hotel and the running around in Bangkok playing tourist that it
worked out financially but hey…it was a lot of fun. All the usual opportunities
to get kidnapped by tuk tuk drivers to go to their favourite jewellery shops and
the marvellously over the top Grand Palace. At least we were there long enough
to have dinner at one of the sidewalk café’s and to get a thai massage.
Possibly should’ve checked on this first…thought I could be
in a bit of trouble when I glanced sideways and saw the masseur beside me
balancing on his elbows as he dug them into a protesting back. The sound track of
accompanying whimpers and not so quiet screams were all that was needed to
complete the picture…and still I had to pay….next time it’s the really wimpy
massage for me.
